Read before relying
- • The principal amount shares the combined Section 123 and Schedule XV ceiling with other qualifying payments.
- • The estimate treats the entered ownership share as the share of principal and interest actually paid by the user.
- • The self-occupied comparison models the represented interest ceiling and does not certify construction, possession, ownership or lender-document conditions.
- • The default-regime result does not apply a self-occupied borrowed-capital deduction. Other income, deductions, surcharge facts and special-rate income can change the regime comparison.

Direct answer
A home-loan payment does not produce one universal “tax exemption”
Principal and borrowed-capital interest are different tax questions. Principal can share a combined qualifying-payment ceiling in the optional old regime, while house-property interest depends on property use, completion and other statutory facts.
The calculator therefore shows the represented eligible amounts, unused amounts and tax before/after—not a promise that the whole EMI is deductible.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
No. An EMI contains principal and interest. Their represented tax treatment is calculated separately, subject to regime choice, property use, ownership share, completion and combined deduction limits.
